We all have a part to play in building up OUR music community
Here are some ways that you can do your part and take action to advocate for Cleveland music:
1. Help Sixth City Sounds play our PART
Help us turn your passion into progress for our music community.
2. PURCHASE TICKETS TO SHOWS IN ADVANCE
For every show, not just the big ones. Strong early ticket sales indicate to artists and venues alike that Cleveland is a community that supports music and makes it more likely that we will be a future tour stop. Plus, then you'll be the only one of your friends to have a ticket to that sold-out show.
3. GO TO SHOWS
This one sounds like a no-brainer, but with the diminished role of labels and the age of streaming, shows are often times an artist's biggest opportunity to establish a meaningful following, as well as make money doing what they love. The more you show up to support a band, the better.
Once you're there...
4. BUY MERCH
Even more so than ticket purchases, each of the shirts, vinyl, CDs and temporary tattoos you buy is money put directly into the pockets of your favorite musicians. It also helps complete your weekend wardrobe and feed your vinyl addiction.
5. BE AN ACTIVE AND RESPECTFUL LISTENER
We believe that the magic live music offers is found in the energy and sense of community every show generates. Nothing counteracts that faster than trying to talk over the opening band or checking to see how many new Instagram followers you have during the show.
It also helps to...
6. FOLLOW AND LIKE BANDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
It may not seem like a big deal, but these days, artists are signed and booked by their popularity on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. Likes, followers and engagement on social media equate to better booked gigs for artists. It only takes a second to do and it can mean a great deal to the future of your favorite bands.
7. VOLUNTEER TO BE ON AN ARTIST OR VENUE'S STREET TEAM
What could be better than seeing your favorite local band make it? Help them get there by volunteering to get the word out about shows, putting up posters, and being their own personal music evangelist.
8. INVITE FRIENDS TO DO ALL OF THE ABOVE
